It is now almost a tradition at Microsec to publish an annual summary of the firm’s main activities at the end of each year, specifically regarding vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications. We are glad to say that 2023 was not just a „business as usual” year; besides providing our services and maintaining our secure operation and conformity certifications, we have advanced with several key aspects to provide security to connected vehicles worldwide.
One of our biggest achievements in 2023, as we have announced earlier this year, is Microsec’s new cloud based SCMS (Security Credential Management System) solution, aiming for the North American market.
Microsec’s SCMS solution (which complements the already mature and commercial C-ITS Credential Management System) is the first to comply with the IEEE 1609.2.1 (WAVE) standard (apart from already supporting the CAMP specification’s requirements as well). To help organizations embrace the benefits of secure V2X communication, Microsec offers trial access for its SCMS service; more information and the link to the trial form are available on the following post:

Regarding 2023’s main advancements of the area, one of the most notable ones is definitely that the USDOT has published the draft of its V2X deployment acceleration plan, which aims to reduce roadway fatalities to zero, utilizing V2X technology. As it is a critical part of a secure V2X infrastructure, the agency aims for the deployment of interoperable SCMS on the highway system from the first phase of the plan, i.e., from the following year. The USDOT draft plan is available on the following link:

In the last year, our V2X PKI certificates have even already been introduced in Australia, supporting proof of concept deployments.
There have been major advancements on the European V2X PKI field as well; the most important of them probably is that the EU has amended the ITS directive (Directive 2010/40/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 July 2010 on the framework for the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems in the field of road transport and for interfaces with other modes of transport). The amendment, which now incorporates the EU trust model is available on the following link:

Related news is that the protection profiles for V2X device certification are ready and are waiting for certification themselves . Microsec is certified to provide devices with PKI on all three levels of the C-ITS Certificate Policy, so as soon as the practical framework is established for L1 and L2 devices, we are immediately ready to issue certificates to the requesters.
Microsec maintains a strong commitment to cooperation with a broad spectrum of participants in the C-ITS / V2X ecosystem, and this year has seen us continue to work alongside and partner with some of the influential entities in the market this year. Just to highlight a few:
Since Microsec is a member of several professional organizations, it is no wonder that our experts are almost always on the way, be those interoperability testing events, standardization meetings or other conferences.
In 2023, we have participated in the following events inter alia:
